No less common vocabulary
An essay can be free of basic-word repeats and still read as flat, because it never reaches for the words that only show up in academic argument — arguably, prevalent, underpins, a double-edged sword. Our mainframes flag this as #LR9 when a script shows no sign of this higher band of vocabulary at all, and in IELTS Writing Task 2 it counts against Lexical Resource every single time.

Exam result
Step 1 Build a small bank of stance adverbs, abstract nouns, and analysis verbs you actually understand.
Step 2 Use each one only where it's genuinely accurate — never just to sound impressive.
Step 3 Aim for two or three of these per essay, spread out, not stacked in one paragraph.
