Very narrow vocabulary
Correct grammar doesn't fix a vocabulary that leans on the same dozen basic words for everything — important, good, bad, a lot, help, use, need, want. Our mainframes flag this as #LR2 when an essay's word choices stay stuck at everyday level throughout, and in IELTS Writing Task 2 it counts against Lexical Resource every single time.
Each item shows, in parentheses, a basic everyday word or phrase. Type a more precise, higher-register alternative for the gap — one word or phrase that a stronger essay would reach for instead.
Exam result
Step 1 Circle every basic word in your draft: good, bad, big, a lot, help, use, need, want, thing, way.
Step 2 For each one, ask: is there a more precise word that says exactly this?
Step 3 Swap it in only if it still fits the meaning — never upgrade just to sound impressive.
