Spelling error
A spelling slip doesn't change your meaning, but it changes how careful your writing looks — and a handful of words cause most of the damage: homophones, doubled consonants, and a short list of words English spells in a way nobody would guess. Our mainframes flag this as #LR11 whenever one of these appears, and in IELTS Writing Task 2 it counts against Lexical Resource every single time.
Each item shows, in parentheses, a misspelled or wrong word. Type the correctly spelled word for the gap.

Step 1 Keep a personal list of the words you misspell most — most people repeat the same handful.
Step 2 For homophones, ask which grammatical job the word is doing before you choose the spelling.
Step 3 For doubled consonants, say the word aloud — a short, stressed final syllable usually doubles.
