Repetition of the same word
Using the same word twice near itself makes an essay feel thin, even when the grammar is perfect. Our mainframes flag this as #LR1 when a content word repeats within a sentence or two of its first use — and in IELTS Writing Task 2 it counts against Lexical Resource every single time.
Each item shows, in parentheses, a word or phrase already used nearby. Type a different word or phrase that keeps the same meaning for the gap — never the word in parentheses itself.
Exam result
Step 1 Notice when the same content word appears twice within a paragraph or two.
Step 2 Keep the meaning, change the word — pick a precise synonym, not a vague filler.
Step 3 If no synonym fits cleanly, point back to it instead: this trend, these measures, such firms.
