practice / IELTS Writing Task 2 / Grammatical Range & Accuracy
#GR8
Wrong word order
English reads Subject → Verb → Object, with strict spots for adverbs, adjectives and question words. Our mainframes flag a break in that order as #GR8 — and in IELTS Writing Task 2 it counts against Grammatical Range & Accuracy every single time.
Each item shows a sentence with the word order broken. Retype it with the words in the right places — capitalisation and the final punctuation mark don't need to match exactly, but every word and its position does.
Exam result
Step 1 Read the sentence and spot the word or phrase that's out of place.
Step 2 Recall the rule that governs where it belongs.
Step 3 Retype the whole sentence in the right order.
In your next essay, read each sentence once just for order — adverbs, adjectives, question words — and watch this error's count drop in your writing passport.
