Getting started
What is co-Note?▾
co-Note is an essay grading tool for teachers. You create assignments, share a link with students, they submit their essays, and you annotate and grade them directly in the browser. Students receive structured feedback and can submit revisions.
How do I share an assignment with students?▾
Open the assignment from your dashboard and copy the student link — it looks like co-note.run/s/xxxxxxxx. Share it however you normally communicate with your class: Google Classroom, email, Zalo, WhatsApp, etc. Students don't need a co-Note account to submit.
Do students need to create an account?▾
No. Students open the assignment link and submit with just their name and email address. They can view their own feedback and revisions without registering.
Grading & feedback
How do I grade a submission?▾
From your dashboard, click on a submission to open the grading view. Highlight text in the essay to attach feedback badges. Use the criteria panel on the right to score each rubric criterion. When done, click Grade — the student is notified by email automatically.
Can students resubmit? How do revisions work?▾
Yes. You set a maximum number of revisions per assignment. After a student receives their graded feedback, they can open the revision view, make changes to their essay, and resubmit. Each submission is versioned so you can compare rounds.
What is the writing trail?▾
The writing trail records snapshots of the student's essay every 60 seconds while they're writing. You can replay their drafting process to see how the essay evolved over time — useful for spotting last-minute rewrites or checking originality.
How do I invite a co-grader?▾
Go to Profile → Co-grading and copy your invite link. Share it with a colleague. Once they join, you can assign submissions to them and see their grades alongside yours.
Account & billing
What happens when I run out of submissions?▾
You can still view existing submissions and grading, but new student submissions will be paused until you top up. Go to Profile → Billing to purchase more submissions or upgrade your plan.
How do I reset my password?▾
On the sign-in page, click forgot password? and enter your email. You'll receive a reset link valid for 30 minutes. If you signed up with Google, use the Continue with Google button instead — there's no separate password.
Is my data secure?▾
Yes. All data is stored in an encrypted PostgreSQL database. Connections use HTTPS with HSTS enforced. Student essays and grades are accessible only to the teacher who created the assignment. We never sell your data.
